Chocolate Ice Cream with Gooey Marshmallow, Caramel Swirls & Chocolatey Fish
We suggested to the band Phish that we celebrate out Vermont roots with a Phish flavour. It's swirled chewy marshmallow and gooey caramel in chocolate ice cream made with pure dairy cream from family farms. We poured a whole school of fish-shaped chocolatey chunks into every carton and named it Phish Food®. We think it rocks! Enjoy!

Chocolate ice cream with gooey marshmallow, caramel swirls & fudge fish
Introduced in: 1997
Ben and Jerry had been neighbors with Phish since the band's early years as favorites of the local music scene. When Ben & Jerry's suggested mixing up a Phish ice cream to celebrate their shared Vermont roots, the band agreed. So Ben & Jerry's concocted a chocolate ice cream with gooey marshmallow and caramel swirls, and a school of fudge fish. Phish Food® ice cream was introduced in 1997, making its debut as part of a special Phish benefit performance in Burlington.
"This is chocolate and marshmallow the way it was meant to be. Most marshmallow variegates disappear into nothingness. You can see the white streaks but you can't taste them, you can't feel them, you can't experience the true glorious marshmallowness of it all. Not so with Phish Food®.
